Chevelle’s puppies are now 7 weeks old and final pictures are here!

It is an another big week for the puppies! The personality descriptions provided are to the most consistent behavior qualities that we have observed. The maturing of personality is a process that takes time just like any other developmental stage. Your puppy’s personality will continue to change over time, and can be shaped and heavily influenced by their environment on into adulthood. 

Chevelle has completed weaning her puppies and has returned home to her guardian family. They are very happy to have her home again! She is back on her pre-puppy schedule and is enjoying daily walks, romps in the yard, playtime, and plenty of lounging about the house.

All of the puppies have been reserved by their families. 

The puppies are in full teething mode, and are enjoying a variety of chew toys. They will get to experience carrots for the first time this week. Their have transitioned to solid puppy kibble, and are drinking water like champs.

They are much more alert than they were last week, and they are playing with each other, pawing at things, and chewing on toys. They are making good use of their waggy-tails, and are also delighted to growl and yip during playtime. They are picking up speed now and running when they chase each other around. So adorable! We take them outside to play (weather permitting) almost daily in the grass, and they love all the sights and smells.

Their eye color may continue to change a bit, and by 8 to 16 weeks old their vision should be fully mature for distance sight. Their hearing is fully developed now.

The puppies will have their nails trimmed again this week.

We will continue sound stimulation; a series of recordings from farm animals to city traffic, and doorbells to party hubbub, as well as soothing classical music. We also play a variety of radio stations daily for the puppies.

The puppies are doing very well with both Litter Box Training and Early Crate Training and have been good with keeping both their floor and their crate clean and dry. We are continuing Night Training this week in preparation for going home! We close them in their crate at night and let them out first thing. They all race to litter box in the morning. They are spending more of their time awake and playing, and have progressed with potty training to the point where we have doubled their space so that they have free access to the entire pen (see picture, below) plus another play area off to the side. We are continuing to work on the early stage of basic manners practice;  asking politely for attention by sitting calmly. The puppies have gotten the idea and are doing well.

The puppies have been to the vet for their well-puppy visit. Our vet was happy with the litter and they all checked out wonderfully!

This week is very full as we continue preparing the puppies for their new homes, get together all of the paperwork for their folders, and pack their Starter Kits (see what’s inside), along with answering last minute questions as the excitement builds approaching pick-ups. It is a bitter-sweet time as we say goodbye to each little puppy that we have loved and watched over since birth, but also a beautiful and joyful time as we see the smiles and happiness they bring as they are welcomed into their new families!

Please note – Week 7 is the last week that we do pictures of all reserved puppies; we take 8 week memory photos with you and your puppy at pick-up.
