Top Breeding Standards

At NY Dandy Doodles, good genetics is just the beginning. Our puppies come from genetically tested lines to ensure their health. This dramatically reduces your dog’s chances of inheriting serious genetic disorders.

We limit the number of litters our breeding moms have during their lifetime. We do not consider them to be “breeding machines.” We take their health into utmost consideration when breeding them. We do not breed them until they are full grown, and they go on to raise 4 or 5 litters, taking a break as needed. They live in our home with us or with a guardian family. Calm, well-loved, healthy moms make for happy and healthy puppies.

No puppies are allowed to go home prior to 8 weeks of age. Puppies in their 7th week are learning key skills from their littermates that will help them the rest of their lives. Puppies taken to soon from their littermates can have severe neurological and behavioral issues that can be easily avoided by being around their littermates until the proper time.

When choosing breeding dogs, we look at more than just a genetic panel. We are also focusing on the temperament of the parents. Are they calm? Friendly? Do they get along well with others? Are they quiet? Do they have a gentle disposition? Do they enjoy play? Are they teachable? These are the qualities we wish to pass down from generation to generation in our Goldendoodle puppies.
