Our Breeding Standards

At NY Dandy Doodles, good genetics is just the beginning. Our puppies come from genetically tested lines to ensure their health. This dramatically reduces your dog’s chances of inheriting serious genetic disorders.

We limit the number of litters our breeding moms have during their lifetime. We do not consider them to be “breeding machines.” We take their health into utmost consideration when breeding them. We do not breed them until they are full grown, and they go on to raise 4 or 5 litters, taking a break as needed. They live in our home with us or with a guardian family. Calm, well-loved, healthy moms make for happy and healthy puppies.

No puppies are allowed to go home prior to 8 weeks of age. Puppies in their 7th week are learning key skills from their littermates that will help them the rest of their lives. Puppies taken to soon from their littermates can have severe neurological and behavioral issues that can be easily avoided by being around their littermates until the proper time.

When choosing breeding dogs, we look at more than just a genetic panel. We are also focusing on the temperament of the parents. Are they calm? Friendly? Do they get along well with others? Are they quiet? Do they have a gentle disposition? Do they enjoy play? Are they teachable? These are the qualities we wish to pass down from generation to generation in our Goldendoodle puppies.

Our Health Guarantee

All of our Goldendoodle puppies receive a Written 2 Year Guarantee, and are assured to be in good health and free from visible signs of infection and contagious or communicable diseases when purchased. They are from genetically tested lines, and come with a Certificate of Health from our veterinarian. Puppies will be up to date on all necessary vaccinations and will not be allowed to go home before 8 weeks of age.

Return Within 7 days of Purchase

If your puppy is returned for any reason other than an accident within 7 days of purchase we will take the puppy back and refund 100% of the purchase price, less original deposit.

Genetic Health Guarantee

If your puppy is diagnosed by a suitably qualified veterinarian as having a life threatening or seriously disabling defect of certain congenital/genetic origin any time in its first two years of life, we will refund 100% of the purchase price or pay for treatment, up to the purchase price, at a Veterinary clinic approved by us.  We reserve the right to require a second opinion from a veterinarian of our choice at our expense. If the puppy is euthanized or in any way disposed of, without a second opinion from the seller’s veterinarian, the buyer waives all rights to a refund.

Note:  This warranty is void in the event of an undetermined or inconclusive diagnosis.  Diseases of likely environmental origin (likely to be caused by suboptimal diet, chemicals, injury or trauma) are not covered.

If your puppy dies and you request a refund, you must have a necropsy performed by a suitably qualified veterinarian at your expense to determine the cause of death.  Your puppy will be refunded if the death was caused by a genetic problem or an illness which your puppy had at the time of purchase.  For this reason, it is advisable to have your puppy checked by your own veterinarian within 72 hours of purchase.

For the long-term health of your puppy we recommend a complete and balanced diet with minimal fillers/exposure to food additives, and spay/neuter at 9 to 12 months of age.  We also recommend minimizing exposure to veterinary drugs (such as flea and heartworm treatments, vaccinations and dewormers) to the minimum dosage and frequency needed to safeguard your pet’s health.

Use of oral flea and tick medication will void your puppy’s health guarantee. These treatments can alter a dog’s nervous system, and can cause long-term damage and/or death. See this article: FDA issues warning about dangerous chemicals in certain flea and tick prevention products.

Lifetime Rehoming Guarantee

Your Goldendoodle puppy also has a lifetime rehoming guarantee with us, so should you have an inability to care for him/her in the future, you can contact us at any stage of your puppy’s life to return him/her to us. Under no circumstances must your puppy ever be given up to a shelter or sold without our permission.
